YBN University celebrated Jharkhand Sthapana Diwas with great enthusiasm and cultural pride through a grand four-day festival that beautifully showcased the rich heritage, traditions, and identity of the state. The university campus was filled with vibrant colors, folk music, and a spirit of unity, reflecting the essence of Jharkhand.
The prestigious celebration was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Kumar Sanjay Jha, Director, Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The event was further honored by the presence of Padma Shri Mahaveer Nayak and eminent artist Guru Tapan Kumar Pattnayak from the Sangeet Natak Akademi, whose contributions to Indian art and culture are widely respected.
The program began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Hon’ble Chairman Shri Ramji Yadav, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Satyadev Poddar, CMD Dr. Ankita Yadav, Chairperson, and the distinguished guests. On this solemn occasion, heartfelt tributes were paid to the legendary tribal leader Bhagwan Birsa Munda, remembering his invaluable contribution to the state and the nation.
Welcoming the gathering, CMD Dr. Ankita Yadav motivated students to strive for excellence in academics while staying deeply connected to cultural values. She encouraged them to actively participate in such programs that foster creativity, leadership, and social awareness.
The celebration featured a wide range of cultural performances, including a traditional Nagpuri welcome song, Jharkhand folk dances, group dance performances, an impactful street play (skit) addressing social issues, and a thoughtfully produced short film depicting the cultural and social fabric of Jharkhand.
A major highlight of the event was the Tribal Art and Fashion Show, where students confidently showcased traditional tribal attire, symbols, and aesthetics of Jharkhand. The presentation was conducted under the guidance of CMD Dr. Ankita Yadav, with the dedicated support of Ms. Asha Pooran, Mrs. Vinita Sharma, Neha Lakra, Jaya, and Dr. Chinmayi.
Adding further depth to the celebration, students presented a powerful play highlighting issues such as witchcraft practices, land disputes, and corruption, conveying strong messages of social reform and awareness. The campus atmosphere was further enlivened by Jharkhandi food stalls, which attracted large crowds with traditional local delicacies. The stage décor, enhanced by creative paintings under the encouragement of Mrs. Pinky, added visual charm to the event.
During the program, winners of various competitions including painting, speech, essay writing, and fashion show were felicitated. The occasion also witnessed the launch of the university newsletter, marking a significant step in promoting academic and creative expression. Another important segment was the Student Council Oath Ceremony, where newly elected representatives pledged their commitment to leadership, responsibility, and service.
The overall planning and monitoring of the four-day celebration were meticulously carried out by Dr. Madhumanti, while the official written documentation was prepared by Dr. Rachna Kumari, Coordinator of the Cultural Committee. The success of the event was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the Cultural Committee Chairperson Dr. Rupa Sinha, who, along with her team, ensured flawless execution.
Active support was also provided by Student Council members Riddhima, Sandeep, Rajneesh, and Divya, who managed arrangements with their volunteers. The event was gracefully hosted in English and Hindi by Mrs. Sapna Kesari, Dr. Madhumanti, and student Aryan, while Dr. Sita Kumari and Dr. Bijaya Birwa hosted segments in Nagpuri, honoring the local language and culture. The contributions of Dr. Bipin Lakra, Sheetal Lakra, Ms. Abhilasha, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, and members from all departments were instrumental in making the celebration a grand success.
Overall, the Jharkhand Sthapana Diwas celebration at YBN University stood as a vibrant expression of culture, unity, leadership, and pride, reinforcing the university’s commitment to preserving regional heritage while nurturing socially responsible and culturally aware citizens.
